The Bosveldbonsmara Club is a group of dedicated Bonsmara breeders who farm primarily in the Bushveld regions of South Africa. Our focus is on breeding veld-adapted cattle that perform exceptionally well under the harsh, hot, and dry conditions typical of the Bushveld.
Established nearly 40 years ago, the club has built a strong reputation for producing hardy, functional cattle suited to extensive farming systems. Some of the member herds date back to the 1970s, providing decades of careful selection that have helped develop a consistent standard for the ideal Bushveld-type Bonsmara.
Our breeding philosophy prioritizes adaptability, fertility, and resilience. Bushveld bulls are selected for their short, smooth hair coats, strong constitution, and ability to thrive in challenging environments. These cattle are naturally exposed to conditions where diseases such as Redwater and Heartwater occur, resulting in animals that demonstrate excellent resistance and hardiness.
Each year, the club hosts two annual production auctions, where carefully selected animals—representing years of genetic improvement—are offered to the market.
The Bosveld Bonsmara Club remains committed to breeding practical, high-quality cattle that deliver real value to commercial beef producers across Southern Africa.
